Euchler, Anne
Anne (Gruzinskas) Euchler, 88, of 300 Village Road, Bennington, Vt., a former
Adams, Mass., resident, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Southwestern Vermont
Medical Center in Bennington.
Born in Edwardsville, Pa., on July 30, 1916, she was the daughter of John and
Rosalie (Kirvelevich) Gruzinskas. She attended schools in Edwardsville. She
moved to New York City as a young woman and lived in Queens until 1992, when she
moved to Adams. She had lived in Bennington since last year.
Mrs. Euchler worked as a dietitian at New York Hospital in New York City for
many years, until retiring to raise her family.
While in Queens, she was an active parishioner of St. Mary, Gate of Heaven
Church. While in Adams, she was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame &
St. Thomas Aquinas.
Her husband, Jack Euchler, whom she married Aug. 26, 1950, died Jan. 10, 1992.
She leaves a son, John D. Euchler, of Clarksburg, Mass.; a daughter, Grace Anne
Booth of Suffern, N.Y.; a brother, John Gruzinskas of Mississippi; a sister,
Mary Stanaitas of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; four grandchildren, Eric and Kristin
Euchler of Clarksburg, and Colin and Kiana Booth of Suffern; several nieces,
nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Anne Euchler will be held Thursday,
Sept. 23, 9:15 a.m., from the Augé-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St.
Adams. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas
Aquinas Church, Adams, with the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of
Notre Dame & St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Stanislaus Kostka, Adams,
officiating. Burial will be Friday, Sept. 24, 1:30 p.m., in Calvary Cemetery,
Queens, N.Y.
Calling hours are Wednesday, 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire
through the funeral home.

Irwin, Irma
Irma Irwin, 94, of Latham, N.Y., died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at her home.
Death followed a brief illness.
Born in North Adams, Mass., she was the daughter of John and Rhoda Greene. She
attended North Adams schools and graduated from the North Adams State Teachers
College. She had been a resident of Latham since 1943.
She was an elementary school teacher in South Royalston, Mass., (grades 1-4),
later in the North Adams school district. She was a substitute elementary school
teacher in the North Colonie School District, retiring in the late 1950s.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Latham, where she was a
former Sunday School teacher and member of the church choir.
She was a member of Mended Hearts of Albany.
She leaves her husband of 61 years, Richard J. Irwin: a daughter, Heather Irwin
of Latham; a sister, Ruth Jayne of Williamstown, Mass.; a brother and
sister-in-law, Charles and Barbara Irwin of Poestenkill, N.Y.; seven nieces,
Judy McManama, Carol Dolan, Jane Thompson, Elva Lewis, Betty Mancuso, Janice
Irwin and Joyce Hickey; and a nephew, Steven Irwin.
A sister, Elva McKay, and a brother, Wallace Greene, are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Irma Irwin will be held Friday,
Sept. 24, 10:30 a.m., at the Bowen Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham,
N.Y. Burial will be in Memory’s Garden, Colonie, N.Y.
Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 23, 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Anne J. McGrail,
WILLIAMSTOWN -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Anne J. (Callahan) McGrail,
88, of 80 Gale Road, was held Saturday, Sept. 18, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick’s
Church, with the Rev. Mark Burke, S.J., pastor of St. Patrick’s & Raphael
churches, officiating.
The acolyte was Ovila St. Pierre. The pall was unfolded by Sean McGrail, son,
and Janet McGrail, daughter-in-law. The crucifix was placed on the pall by Sean
McGrail. The ministers of the word were Thomas Callahan, nephew, and Maria
Perry, godchild. The offertory giftbearers were Brendan and Julianne McGrail,
grandchildren. Words of love and reflections were delivered by Sean McGrail and
Mark Wyman, nephew.
Organist and soloist Diane Maynard assisted Pauline McNicol and Carol Abate.
Burial will take place at a later date in Westlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Jared McGrail, grandson; Mark Wyman, Thomas Callahan and William Callahan,
nephews; and Corey Mears and Sean McGrath, grandnephews.
Mrs. McGrail died Sept. 17. The Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals,
West Chapels, 521 W. Main St. North Adams, was in charge of arrangements.
Norton, Marion
Marion Norton
WILLIAMSTOWN -- A prayer service for Marion Norton, 83, of Church Street, was
held Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the George M. Hopkins Funeral Home. A Mass of
Christian Death and Burial followed at St. Patrick’s Church with the Rev. Mark
J. Burke, S.S.J., officiating.
The pall was draped over the casket by Christopher Rowe, nephew-in-law.
The Old Testament scripture was read by a nephew-in-law, David Blanchette, and
the New Testment scripture was read by her nephew, Casey Norton. The eucharistic
gifts were presented at the altar by her brother and sister-in-law, James and
Mary Norton.
The organist was Diane Maynard, who also sang the hymns “Amazing Grace,” “Be
Not Afraid” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”
Burial followed in Eastlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Smith, Charles
Becker, Michael McGarrahan and Larry Shutts.
Miss Norton died Sept. 17.
Foss, Stephen A.
Stephen A. Foss, 37, of 150 Western Ave., Altamont, N.Y., and formerly of
Williamstown, Mass., died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at St. Peter’s Hospital in
Albany.
Born in North Adams, Mass., on April 27, 1967, he was the son of Nancy Jane
(Switzer) Foss and the late Glenn A. Foss. He attended schools in Williamstown
and graduated from Mount Greylock Regional High School with the class of 1988.
He was employed at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute and at Oak
Hollow Farm, both in Williamstown. He also was employed at the Crossgates Mall,
Gold’s Gym and last employed in the office of the Center for the Disabled, all
in the Albany area.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Williamstown and was an avid New
York Yankee Fan.
Besides his mother of Williamstown, he leaves a sister, Sharon E. Bryan of
Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; a brother, Brian S. Foss of Jackson, Wyo., and two
nieces, Elizabeth Nancy Jane Bryan and Charlotte Rose Bryan of Saratoga Springs,
N.Y.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service to celebrate the life of Stephen A.
Foss will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of
Williamstown, Mass. Private burial will take place in Eastlawn Cemetery,
Williamstown.
There are no calling hours.
