WNAW is a full service, community radio station with an AC music mix and a major commitment to news and information. The station's programming is led by Program Manager Dave Fierro who has been at his job for over 30 years. Full-time reporters and a staff meteorologist form the news team that provides hourly news summaries, four 30 minute news reports~ and interactive talk programs every day. We have carried Red Sox Baseball every year without interruption since 1951 and we produce local play-by-play coverage of high school and college football and basketball.
Northern Berkshire County is the trading center for about 35% of the county's E.B.I. North Adams, one of only 2 cities in the county, Adams and Williamstown are the principal communities of the region and they rank 2nd, 3rd, and 8th respectively, in population density of the 32 cities and towns in the county.
Williams College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, the only traditional colleges in the county, are in Williamstown and North Adams.
The State's largest mountain, Mt. Greylock, several smaller state parks, two ski areas, the Clark Art Institute, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MOCA), make North Berkshire a four season resort and major tourist destination.

DESCRIPTION OF SUPPLEMENTAL OUTREACH
INITIATIVES SHEET-YEAR 2011
Continuation of an internship program. This internship program is designed to educate students about careers in radio broadcasting. The stations offer unpaid internships for school credit to. Any student is eligible to apply for the internships. The internships are available for the spring, summer, and fall semesters. Each candidate is interviewed by the stations’ Operations Manager. The number of interns selected depends upon the number of applicants and the projected workload during the internship period. Management at the stations works with administrators at local schools to locate eligible and interested students. Some of the duties an intern may perform include, but are not limited to the
Following: music research, on-air board operation, clerical work, phone answering, accompanying announcers on remote broadcasts, assisting with promotion duties, commercial writing, production of commercials, music scheduling, call screening and scheduling of guests.
Vox Berkshire Radio Group held an in house Job Fair at 211 Jason Street, Pittsfield on 11/18/2011 from 10am until 12 noon. The Job Fair was promoted on all Vox radio station. 8 promos a day from 11/11/2011 until 11/18/2011 at 10am. The Job Fair was also listed on our radio station websites and with a job opening announcement sent to the recruitment sources listed above. Attending Vox Berkshire Radio Group managers included, Peter Berry, Market Manager and Todd Lee, Operations Manager.
